Preparing for the 2016 Presidential Elections

Although the 2016 presidential election is 18 months away, now is the time to start getting informed about who is running and what their platforms are.

First, and for myself, the most important information that needs to be reiterated is, ‘what are the requirements to become president’.

1. Must be a natural born U.S. citizen. Someone may be born abroad, but only if both parents were citizens of the United States. The only exception to this was for those around at the time the Constitution was adopted. Their requirement was that they had to be a citizen when the Constitution was adopted. (America should have been aware of this when the current president was nominated as a candidate).

2. Must be at least 35 years of age.

3. Must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years to be president. This does not have to be consecutive or even the 14 years leading up to becoming president.

These are, at best, the minimum requirements for the office of the president. No other requirements exist, so unfortunately if more than half of voters in enough states whose electoral votes total over 270, a horrifically inexperienced and boarder-line unamerican (just see how he respects our flag and national anthem) socialist can take over the white house. We saw this in 2008.

Watch for posting of the confirmed candidates as well as potential hopefuls in the coming weeks. The postings will include a short bio, their background experience, and notice of confirmation if they are so confirmed. Additionally, as the campaign starts, comments, speeches and political platforms will be posted.
