FEDS KEEP MARIJUANA ON THE SCHEDULE I LIST

I know that I have said it before but apparently it needs to be said again. MARIJUANA IS NOT A DRUG, it is a natural growing PLANT and is TECHNICALLY an herb. To be a DRUG, there has to be a combination of various chemicals in order to produce a serum or tablet. Marijuana only requires that you plant it, pluck it, and then smoke or cook with it. It isn’t rocket science people.

The DEA and the FEDS are not ignorant of this, however they are STUPID in that they insist there are no benefits to marijuana. How can they say that when American Medical Association has consistently urged the DEA to take it off of the schedule 1 list.

The American Medical Association urged the DEA to reconsider the Schedule listing in 2009. A 2014 doctors’ survey found 56% of them backed the legal use of marijuana for medical purposes, with 82% of cancer doctors supporting the move. But that Schedule I designation has kept marijuana out of bounds when it came to federal research into its possible use for treatments of cancer, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Scientists at the University of South Carolina think the most powerful chemical discovered in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), might be efficient in dealing with some possibly deadly COVID-19 issues, according to an initial research study released in Frontiers in Pharmacology. The federal government reconfirmed Thursday that it believes there is insufficient evidence to show that marijuana’s “known risks” outweigh any “specific benefits” its use might offer. The Drug Enforcement Administration concluded that weed has no “currently accepted medical use’” because its “chemistry is not known and reproducible; there are no adequate safety studies; there are no adequate and well-controlled studies proving efficacy; the drug is not accepted by qualified experts; and the scientific evidence is not widely available.” REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

In the United States, the removal of cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, the most tightly restricted category reserved for drugs that have “no currently accepted medical use,” has been proposed repeatedly since 1972. (Has marijuana been removed from Schedule 1 – Bing)

So let’s look at some studies that have been done and see if the FEDS’ response is valid.

Now that it is understood that MJ IS NOT A DRUG, let’s look at some other ‘drugs’ that are not only legal, but can be bought just about anywhere. Alcohol is a good place to start. Here are some stats:

 ALCOHOL
Approximately 88,000 deaths a year.

Alcohol consumption has dropped in states that have legalized medical and recreational use of cannabis.

While there is no fatal effects of overusing cannabis, consuming too much alcohol can lead to organ failure or other injuries. For more info CLICK HERE

TOBACCO:
Smoking is the direct cause of one of every five deaths in the U.S. That translates to roughly 480,000 deaths annually, 1,300 smoking-related deaths per day, 54 deaths per hour, or almost one death per minute.

So, what are your thoughts?

NOTE: I smoked marijuana on occasion in the late 60s and early 70s, then just quit. Now that I am almost 70, I started again about 7 years ago. The health benefits have been amazing.
