FDA Recalls over 4,000 ‘approved’ drugs and devices

On average, about 4,500 drugs and devices are pulled from U.S. shelves each year. The recalled products have U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and in many cases, are widely ingested, injected or implanted before being recalled.

FDA-Regulated Products Subject to Recall Include:

  • Human and animal drugs
  • Medical devices
  • Vaccines
  • Blood and blood products
  • Radiation-emitting products
  • Transplantable human tissue
  • Animal feed
  • Cosmetics
  • Food

Reasons: range from issues with the packaging to reports of life-threatening and even fatal injuries.

FDA approval or clearance does not guarantee a drug or device is safe. SO WHY ARE THEY EVEN THERE? WTH ARE these people?

The 15 or so members of the committee are largely academics and physicians from a variety of specialties useful when one is assessing whether a new vaccine ought to be licensed. There are infectious diseases experts — adult and pediatric — and biostatisticians. People like Paul Offit, a professor of pediatrics and well-known vaccines advocate from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Andrea Shane, a pediatrics professor from Emory University School of Medicine.

Gotta tell ya, if these folks are that astute in the medical field, then I pray I never have to see them for a medical condition. And just like some people who blame everyone else, so does the FDA as they put the blame on the manufacturer. Of course the fact that they still rate marijuana with LSD, just shows that they epitomize the term OBTUSE.
